Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich Monitor Mason Greenwood’s Progress at Getafe, Alongside European Scouts Keeping Tabs on the Young Manchester United Striker
Several of the best teams in Europe, like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid, are said to have sent scouts to watch Mason Greenwood play this season.
Greenwood was sent out on loan by Manchester United in September for the season. He has been a big hit there, scoring four goals and setting up three others in 13 games.
90min says that Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund are all keeping an eye on his progress because of how well he has been playing.
Greenwood doesn’t seem to have a future at Manchester United.
After a long internal review, United said in August that Greenwood would not play for them because they were putting his “welfare, wishes, and perspective” first.
Because of this, Greenwood’s future will be a topic in the coming months. He is under contract with United until 2025 and has the chance to extend for an extra year.
Spanish news outlet AS says that several scouts from Premier League teams went to the Estadio Coliseum last month to see Greenwood play.
Greenwood wasn’t wanted by any Premier League clubs over the summer, but teams in Italy and Turkey were interested.
When reporters asked about the possible deal, Angel Corres, president of Getafe, said, “We have not talked about price.” We’ve talked about taking a look at the situation and seeing what they have to say because there has been a change in who owns shares in Manchester United.
We’re still happy with the meetings and video calls we have with them, though.
“It’s still too early to think about whether we will stay for one more season or whether they will offer a price at which we will sign the whole contract because we have a share and want to buy the rest.”
